Dorine DeCarli, Christian Education Director Our new Director of Christian Education. She joins us after five years as the Christian Education Director of the Union Congregational Church in Rockville, CT. She received her Associates in Christian Education from Hartford Seminary in 2000 and teaches part-time in an after-school program at Maria Sanchez School in Hartford. Dorine is creative, artistic, loves gardening and children, and lives with her teenage sons, Derek & Kyle, and their kitty, Lydia, in Vernon. Leona Mae Page, Administrative Assistant Leona Mae Page came to us in October 2006 with extensive experience in organization and office management. She very much enjoys people, writing, and creating systems that improve efficiency. She believes that life is about service. One of her favorite quotes is: I slept and dreamt that life was joy. In this light, she strives in a variety of ways, mainly: · helping folks heal from the effects of childhood sexual abuse through her writing, public speaking, and active membership on the Victim-Survivor Advisory Council of Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services, Inc. · donating platelets at the American Red Cross every other week · doing service with & for the youth group at her church, the Unitarian Society of Hartford |
Deb Huebner, Nursery School Director Deb graduated from Annhurst College, in Woodstock Connecticut with a degree in Elementary Education/Behavioral Sciences. She has been at our Nursery School since 1982 serving the school as a teacher, Business Manager, Assistant Director and has been its Director since 1986. Deb is an active member of the National Association of the Education for Young Children (NAEYC), the Hartford Association of Young Children (HAEYC), the Greater Hartford Early Childhood Director Council (GHECDC), the Bloomfield Readiness Council, and the Bloomfield Discovery Council.

Eustace Straker, Director of Music Mr. Straker has had a long and dedicated career in music. He has served First Congregational Church as Choirmaster and Minister of Music since February 1969. He began his studies of piano and organ at an early age in Barbados, West Indies, where he was born. After moving to the United States he continued his studies at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, and entered the Hartt School of Music, at the University of Hartford in September of 1966, Mr. Straker has held positions at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, NY, Grace Methodist Church in Plainville, CT, and the Unitarian Church, Hartford. |
