At FCC Bloomfield we believe we are called serve our neighbors, within our church, our local community and throughout the world. Our missions board has served many charitable organizations throughout our history and though the number is too numerous to list here, below are a few of the local organizations in which our members are currently active and seeking support. Covenant to Care for Children
Covenant to Care for Children is a nonprofit agency that works with faith communities to meet the needs of abused, neglected, and impoverished children and teens. FCC provides ongoing support for Covenant to Care with donations of cloths, furniture and household items as well as financial contributions. We hold several events during the year to collect items and sponsor social workers for this organization. Community Solutions Inc.
The mission of Community Solutions Inc. is to promote the independence, citizenry and well-being of individuals and families involved, or at risk of involvement, in the child welfare, juvenile justice and criminal justice systems. FCC supports CSI by organizing a clothing closet that assists clients who are re-entering the workforce by providing suits and work cloths for job interviews and jobs. We accepts donations of new and gently used men's clothing as well as financial contributions. We welcome volunteers who can help staff the clothing closet during hours of operation. Loaves and Fishes Ministries
Loaves & Fishes Ministries is a non-profit organization that provides human services and is dedicated to revitalizing the Asylum Hill neighborhood of Hartford, CT. They serve low-income and poverty level individuals and families and provide education, food, counseling, and economic development programs. Members of FCC prepare and serve nutritious meals for the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen at Immanuel Church in Hartford.
Meals are served once a month on the second Tuesday with these meals cooked at First Congregational Church the day before. FCC also supports many fund raising efforts to benefit this organization throughout the year. Hyacinth Williams Foundation for Children
The Bloomfield, CT based Hyacinth Williams Foundation for Children is a dynamic non-profit that creates programs to enable students of the Greater Hartford region and the island of Jamaica aged 7 to 17 to fulfill their potential by developing their leadership and entrepreneurial skills. The HWFC has initiated a backpack food program in Bloomfield which supplies low income children with backpacks filled with food for the weekends when they can not receive their meals at school. FCC collects non perishable food and financial contributions to help supply these backpacks. Volunteers help assemble the backpacks each week for distribution at the local elementary schools.
